What I Learned My First Year of College...

My first year of college has been over for a couple weeks now so I thought I'd share with you the things I learned:

You will miss home

But you'll love not having a bedtime

Until you're so exhausted you give yourself one

7:30am college classes are not the same as 8:00am high school ones

But if it's a PE class it's totally worth it

I am exactly the right height to get elbowed in the face while playing basketball with boys

If you use garlic in your cooking and more than three ingredients, your roommates will think you are a master chef

Read the textbook

No seriously, you have to read the textbook

Breadth classes are not a waste of time

Unless it's Creative Arts in which case it's a TOTAL waste of time

You will make new friends

Lose some old ones

And figure out who's there to stay

If you're in Logan, it will snow

In May

The Bookstore is the biggest scam I've ever seen

But you'll buy stuff from there anyway

You will go on some grand adventures

And some not so grand ones

Roommates are simultaneously terrible, wonderful, and hilarious

You will call home for advice

Moving sucks

Even if it's just from apartment to apartment

 Tapatio goes with everything

You will make some of the biggest decisions of your life

And it will be an awesome ride.

A whole new world,

Little Monsters

Let me tell you about my favorite little monsters.

The first one is approximately 5 foot 4 inches tall with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Strengths: sass, hitting a volleyball, making faces, and baking

Weaknesses: 10:30 pm, vegetables, being blonde, and legal driving

The smaller but no less monstrous one is somewhere around 4 foot 6 inches with blonde hair and green eyes.

Strengths: video games, talking, stinky-ness, and being the golden child

Weaknesses: baths, thinking he's a high schooler, and bedtime

Both should be treated as dangerous. Approach with caution.

Watch and see just how monstrous these two are:

Personally, I like to watch from about 25 seconds....over and over again. Also notice when Hannah tells Ashton he was a pirate for Christmas once (around 1 minute) ...or Halloween but whatever.

But they're my monsters. And I love them. :)

To infinity and beyond,

Summer!

Guess what?? I finished my first year of college! I'm not going to say it was the easiest or funnest thing ever, but I did it.

Also, I'm a Junior now. So only four semesters left.

Which is pretty neat.

And now it's summer!

But I'll be taking classes for most of the summer...

Which is not as neat.

But I will NEVER have to live in Moen Hall again.

Which is pretty fantastic.

Called to Serve

Dear Sister Wilson,

You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the México Mérida Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 18 months.

You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. You will prepare to teach the gospel in the Spanish language...

I can't really explain how I felt when I read those words.
The words that I kept saying over and over again (and I'm still saying it) was: It's perfect.
I didn't really have a place that I wanted to go before I opened my call. But if I could have picked for myself, that would be it.

It's so perfect for me:

I wanted to speak Spanish
And go foreign
And I love spicy food
And I didn't want to be cold all the time
And it's surrounded by Book of Mormon history.
It's perfect.

And I cannot wait to go serve the Lord!

I was lucky enough to have my friends and family there.
That made it so much better. :)

This is probably my favorite picture of the day.
They're staring at my call so intently. :)

Also I didn't cry!! Be impressed.
Yeah, I had no idea where it was.

Mérida here I come.

The dream that you wish will come true,

-McKenna
